The HOME Investment Partnership Program gives special assistance to community based affordable housing development organizations. These organizations, referred to as CHDOs are nonprofit organizations that have met very specific HOME requirements and have professional staff with the capacity to develop affordable housing in their community(s). The HOME program requires IHFA to set aside a minimum of 15% of each HOME allocation for eligible housing activities owned or developed by IHFA certified CHDOs.
A Certified CHDO has met HOME requirements regarding their legal status, IRS designation, organizational structure, and professional staff capacity. IHFA certifies its CHDOs annually.
