Section 8 Landlord Workshop Oct. 16 in Idaho Falls
IDAHO FALLS - Idaho Falls area landlords are invited to
attend a free Section 8 Rental Assistance workshop in Idaho Falls on
Thursday, Oct. 16 from 7 9 p.m. at the Hampton Inn, 2500 Channing
Way. An explanation of the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program will be
provided to current and prospective landlords. Topics to be discussed
include an explanation of the responsibilities of HUD, IHFA, tenants
and property owners. A local landlord participating in the assistance
program will discuss tenant screening and IHFA staff will talk about
fraud and discrimination.
"Participating landlords and property owners are an important
part of the Section 8 program," said Rod Beck, IHFA executive
director. "We offer these workshops several times each year to
ensure that landlords are aware of the program and are up-to-date on
the latest regulation changes at the federal level."
For more information contact IHFA's Idaho Falls branch office at
(208) 522-6002.
IHFA administers Section 8 programs on behalf of HUD in areas of
the state that do not have local housing authorities. Annually, IHFA
receives approximately $10 million for monthly rent payments to
private property owners in the Section 8 program for more than 2,400
households each month. To be eligible for rental assistance,
households must qualify under HUD income limits and pay 30 percent of
their adjusted gross monthly income for rent and utilities.
IHFA's five branch offices, located in Coeur d'Alene, Lewiston,
Twin Falls, Blackfoot, and Idaho Falls, administer the Section 8
program.
IHFA is a independent public body, corporate and politic, providing
funding for affordable housing opportunities in Idaho communities
where they are most needed. IHFA must generate all revenue necessary
to cover its operation costs. It does this by earning fees for work
performed and uses no state funds or state employees.
###
The
Idaho Housing and Finance Association, a financial services and
housing organization, provides funding for affordable housing in
Idaho communities where they are most needed and when it is
economically feasible. IHFA uses no state funds or state employees
to support its operations. For more information, visit our Web
