IHFA Cancels Blackfoot Landlord Workshop on Monday (June 16) Due
to Flooding
BLACKFOOT - Due to flood warnings in Bingham county, a free
landlord workshop on Monday (June 16) in Blackfoot at the Bingham
County Courthouse has been canceled. Blackfoot landlords are
encouraged to attend the next workshop held in Pocatello on Tuesday
(June 17) from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Marshall Library, 113 S. Garfield.
The workshop is sponsored by the Idaho Housing and Finance Association
(IHFA).
We regret having to cancel the Blackfoot workshop, but with the
Snake River cresting, we are concerned about the safety of workshop
participants," said Rod Beck, IHFA executive director. We invite
all local landlords not affected by flooding to attend our next
workshop on June 17."
At the Pocatello workshop, changes in the Section 8 Rental
Assistance Program will be provided to landlords currently
participating in the program. Information on legal issues affecting
property owners will also be discussed. Other topics include local
fair housing issues, tenant selection, eviction procedures and unit
maintenance.
Workshop seating is limited and interested landlords are encouraged to
reserve space by contacting IHFA's Blackfoot office at (208) 785-0324.
IHFA administers Section 8 programs on behalf of HUD in areas of
the state that do not have local housing authorities. Each month, IHFA,
in partnership with HUD and participating landlords, provides
affordable rental housing to more than 2,500 Idaho households.
IHFA is an independent public body, corporate and politic,
providing funding for affordable housing opportunities in Idaho
communities where they are most needed. IHFA must generate all revenue
necessary to cover its operation costs. It does this by earning fees
for work performed and uses no state funds or state employees. IHFA's
main office is located at 565 West Myrtle in Boise, Idaho, with five
branch offices throughout the state in Twin Falls, Blackfoot, Idaho
Falls, Lewiston and Coeur d'Alene.
