IHFA Landlord Workshops in Burley and Twin Falls Explain Housing Issues

BOISE - Property owners, managers and landlords in southcentral Idaho are encouraged to attend one of two free workshops in Burley and Twin Falls regarding housing issues on Wednesday, May 1, sponsored by the Idaho Housing and Finance Association. New guidelines governing lead-based paint will be discussed by IHFA’s Rental Assistance Program Manager, Lisa Stevens, and a session on calculating rent rates will be conducted by the Twin Falls branch office.

The first workshop will be held from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at Burley City Hall, located at 1401 Overland Avenue. The second workshop will be held at 264 Main Avenue S. from 2:00-3:30 p.m., at the Obenchain Insurance Inc. Community Room in Twin Falls. Seating is limited and those planning to attend are encouraged to reserve space by contacting IHFA’s Twin Falls office at (208) 734-8531.

IHFA administers Section 8 Rental Assistance on behalf of HUD in 34 of Idaho’s 44 counties. In 2001, IHFA administered almost $3.9 million in Housing Assistance Payments to participating Southcentral Idaho landlords in the Section 8 tenant-based and project-based programs, benefiting more than 1,485 low-income households. To be eligible for rental assistance, households must qualify under HUD income limits and pay 30 percent of their adjusted gross monthly income for rent and utilities.

IHFA’s four branch offices, located in Coeur d’Alene, Lewiston, Twin Falls and Idaho Falls, administer the Section 8 program. Landlord workshops are coordinated regularly by each office.
