IHFA Landlord Workshop June 26 in Idaho Falls to Highlight Housing Issues

BOISE - Property owners, managers and landlords in Eastern and Southeastern Idaho are encouraged to attend a free workshop in Idaho Falls regarding housing issues on Wednesday, June 26, sponsored by the Idaho Housing and Finance Association. The IHFA Idaho Falls Branch office will conduct sessions on the new guidelines governing lead-based paint, calculating tenant rent rates, and IHFA’s determination of "reasonable rent."

The workshop will be held from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Grand Teton Mall’s Community Room, located at 2300 E. 17th St. Idaho Falls. Seating is limited and those planning to attend are encouraged to reserve space by contacting IHFA’s Idaho Falls office at (208) 522-6002.

IHFA administers Section 8 Rental Assistance on behalf of HUD in 34 of Idaho’s 44 counties. In 2001, IHFA administered nearly $7.5 million in Housing Assistance Payments to participating Eastern and Southeastern Idaho landlords in the Section 8 tenant-based and project-based programs, benefiting almost 3,800 low-income households. To be eligible for rental assistance, households must qualify under HUD income limits and pay 30 percent of their adjusted gross monthly income for rent and utilities. Landlords who participate in IHFA’s programs are helping low-income Idaho citizens obtain the most basic of needs—housing.

IHFA’s four branch offices, located in Coeur d’Alene, Lewiston, Twin Falls and Idaho Falls, administer the Section 8 program. Landlord workshops are coordinated regularly by each office.
