IHFA Landlord Workshop August 22 in Coeur d’Alene Explains Current Housing Issues

BOISE - Property owners, managers and landlords in Northern Idaho are encouraged to attend a free workshop in Coeur d’Alene regarding housing issues on Thursday, August 22, sponsored by the Idaho Housing and Finance Association. The workshop will be held from 9:00 a.m.- noon at Kootenai Health Resource Center, at 2003 Lincoln Way.

New guidelines governing lead-based paint will be discussed, and sessions on calculating rent rates, fair market rents and payment standards will be conducted. Seating is limited and those planning to attend are encouraged to reserve space by contacting IHFA’s Coeur d’Alene office at (208) 667-3380.

IHFA administers Section 8 Rental Assistance on behalf of HUD in 34 of Idaho’s 44 counties. In 2001, IHFA administered $4.5 million in Housing Assistance Payments to participating North Idaho landlords in the Section 8 tenant-based and project-based programs, benefiting 1,551 low-income households. To be eligible for rental assistance, households must qualify under HUD income limits and pay 30 percent of their adjusted gross monthly income for rent and utilities.

IHFA’s four branch offices, located in Coeur d’Alene, Lewiston, Twin Falls and Idaho Falls, administer the Section 8 program. Landlord workshops are coordinated regularly by each office.
