IHFA and HUD Contribute Nearly $2.7 Million to Meet Idaho's Housing Needs
BOISE -
The Idaho Housing and Finance Association is pleased to announce a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) homeless grant award of $2,171,373 to be used in support of Idaho's homeless shelters and transitional housing opportunities outside Ada County. IHFA will provide a matching grant of $500,000, bringing the total project funding to $2,671,373.
This funding is part of Idaho's Continuum of Care commitment. Continuum of Care grants provide transitional and permanent housing opportunities. In addition, Continuum grants fund supportive services including job training, health care, mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment, child care and living skills training.
"IHFA is pleased through the HUD grant process to bring these critical resources to local communities throughout Idaho," said IHFA President and Executive Director Gerald Hunter. "We are encouraged by the funding awards, and for the effort of many dedicated organizations that serve those citizens in greatest need."
Thousands of local programs that house and serve the homeless are being awarded nearly $1.3 billion in HUD grants nationwide. As a result of the funding, more than 700,000 people nationwide will receive the housing and services they need to become self-sufficient.
Together, IHFA and HUD are funding 23 projects statewide.
