The Idaho Community Reinvestment Corporation (ICRC) invested nearly $6 million in affordable housing from May 1, 2003 through April 30, 2004. That investment produced 212 units of housing, with more than 84 percent of the total units designated as affordable based on area income.
The ICRC, in partnership with Idaho Housing and Finance Association, pursues a common goal of providing rental housing for limited-income Idaho families. The ICRC provides the capital and IHFA acts as its underwriting agent.
The new developments included a 48-unit family complex in Caldwell (Ashton Place), a 72-unit family complex in Garden City (Shannon Glen), a 30-unit senior complex in Coeur d'Alene (Heartland Senior), a 32-unit family complex in Kuna (Valley Run), and a 30-unit senior complex in Hayden (Hayden Senior).
In the 11 years ICRC has been active, it has facilitated the addition of almost 1,600 affordable housing units in Idaho. In that time, the ICRC has invested more than $41 million in affordable housing, with another $4.4 million conditionally committed.
"Each of the 212 apartments financed by the ICRC represents a family housed in an attractive and affordable home," said ICRC president Greg Gaston of Wells Fargo Bank. "The ICRC is pleased to have had a role in creating healthy neighborhoods."
The ICRC is a nonprofit mortgage-banking consortium formed in 1993 by 10 Idaho financial institutions. Created as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, the ICRC now has 16 Idaho financial institution members. Their $45 million revolving loan pool provides permanent financing for the development and acquisition of affordable rental housing throughout Idaho.
