IHFA offers mold workshop for North Idaho landlords April 1

COEUR D'ALENE - Property owners, managers and landlords in North Idaho are encouraged to attend a free workshop on household mold. The session, from the Idaho Housing and Finance Association, is scheduled on Friday, April 1, at the Kootenai Hospital Health Resource Center, Fox Room 4 and 5, 2003 Lincoln Way.

"Carl Ramsey from Architectural and Environmental Associates will present information that will help attendees learn to identify and understand effects of mold, as well as ways to eliminate it," said IHFA Branch Supervisor Mary Jo Braaten. "We encourage not only our landlords but also realtors, buyers, sellers and bankers in the area to attend."

The three-hour workshop will be held from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Seating is limited, and those planning to attend must call to reserve space by contacting IHFA's Coeur d'Alene office at (208) 667-3380, or toll-free 1-866-621-2994.

IHFA administers Section 8 Rental Assistance on behalf of HUD in 34 of Idaho's 44 counties. In 2004 in tenant-based and project-based programs, IHFA administered over $6.1 million in Housing Assistance Payments to participating North Idaho landlords in the Section 8 program, benefiting nearly 1,650 low-income households. To be eligible for rental assistance, households must qualify under HUD income limits and pay 30 percent of their adjusted gross monthly income for rent and utilities.

IHFA's four branch offices, located in Coeur d'Alene, Lewiston, Twin Falls and Idaho Falls, administer the Section 8 program and regularly conduct landlord workshops.
