IHFA Helps Bring 18 New Housing Units
for the Homeless to Ammon
Public Invited to Grand Opening June 17
(AMMON) Idaho Housing and Finance Association
announced today that it has provided more than $1 million in
financing to CLUB Inc., owner and sponsor of the 18-unit single-occupancy
Eagle Pointe Apartments development project, located at the
corner of 17th and Crowley, in Ammon, Idaho. The three-building
development is for homeless persons with mental disabilities,
and will be a place for tenants to transition from homelessness
to living as independently as possible. The public is invited
to the development’s grand opening on June 17.
IHFA’s financing includes a $540,000 HOME loan, a $400,000
Supportive Housing Program grant, and $95,000 in dedicated funds
to the project. HOME is a block-grant-to-states funding source
made available by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development,
and administered in Idaho, by IHFA, specifically to provide
housing options for lower-income residents.
"IHFA's mission is to provide housing opportunities statewide,"
said Bob Reed, vice president, Real Estate Lending. Since IHFA’s
inception, the association has generated approximately $230
million in equity through its Housing Tax Credit program and
collaborated to provide 179 affordable rental housing developments
with nearly 7,900 housing units across the state.
Project owner and sponsor CLUB Inc. provides a mixture of mental
health and substance abuse services. "CLUB Inc. is a unique
organization because it has always had clients and consumers
on its Board of Directors,” said Michael Hinman, board
chairman.
CLUB stands for Caring, Learning, Understanding, and Belonging
– essential elements for individual treatment. The not-for-profit
agency provides services to approximately 600 individuals annually
in Eastern Idaho.
“People who receive services help run the company. In
the Eagle Pointe project they have been involved from the start:
Helping approve the concept, helping pick the location, helping
approve the plans and helping to select the colors. Thanks to
the cooperative efforts of many people the dream has become
reality,” said Hinman.
Century Contractors is the general contractor and Design Place
PLLC designed the project. Blacker’s Home Furnishings
in Idaho Falls is furnishing the units, landscape design was
done by Lance Ellis, and interior decoration was done by Karen
Cowart and Lila Cochran, each of whom donated her services.
