IHFA Hosts Free Anti-Meth Workshop for Landlords in Lewiston November 8

LEWISTON - Property owners, managers and landlords in the Lewis-Clark Valley are encouraged to attend a free workshop on methamphetamine issues. The workshop, hosted by Idaho Housing and Finance Association, is scheduled for Tuesday, November 8, at the North Central District Health Conference Room, 215 10th St. in Lewiston.

"Lt. Charlie Spencer with the Idaho State Police will discuss how to recognize a methamphetamine lab, the dangers they pose, and what to do if you suspect there is one in your neighborhood," said IHFA Branch Supervisor Jackie Sayre. "We encourage landlords, REALTORS®, home buyers and sellers, and bankers in the area to attend."

The three-hour workshop will be held from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Seating is limited, and those planning to attend must call to reserve space by contacting IHFA's Lewiston branch office at (208) 743-0251 or toll-free 1-866-566-1727.

IHFA administers Section 8 Rental Assistance on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in 34 of Idaho's 44 counties. In 2004, IHFA administered nearly $4.6 million in Housing Assistance Payments to participating Lewis-Clark Valley landlords. As a result, more than 1,400 low-income households through tenant-based and project-based programs have benefited from this investment.

To be eligible for rental assistance, households must qualify under HUD income limits and pay 30 percent of their adjusted gross monthly income for rent and utilities.

IHFA's four branch offices, located in Coeur d'Alene, Lewiston, Twin Falls, and Idaho Falls, administer the Section 8 program and regularly conduct landlord workshops.
