Southwest Idaho 2006 Home Buyer Education Class Schedule Announced Course Graduates Eligible for Up to $3,000 in Assistance
(BOISE) Finally Home!® Home Buyer Education classes will be offered in Lewiston in 2006 (Schedule follows this page), and also will be available online statewide for the first time. The online course can be accessed at: http://www.ihfa.org/FinallyHomeOnlineCourse, and the fee for the online course is $50.
The fee for the classroom course is $10 per student.
Administered by the Idaho Partners for Home Buyer Education Inc. (IPHBE), classes designed for first-time home buyers or those wanting home-buying information cover topics ranging from qualifying for a mortgage and choosing a real estate professional, to making an offer and closing. Specifics on the Finally Home!® program, contacts and schedules are available on the IHFA Web site at nonprofit_homebuyer.asp.
IPHBE is a nonprofit organization that has joined with local partners in Idaho to offer Finally Home!® classes every month statewide. Idaho graduates who complete the course may also be eligible for a grant of up to $3,000 for down payment or closing cost assistance through Idaho Housing and Finance Association.
"The course is extremely helpful to potential home buyers," said Sue Pisani, statewide program administrator. "Buyers are guided through the terminology and paperwork of a mortgage transaction. We also cover credit issues, home maintenance, inspections, predatory lending, identity theft and wise use of home equity. We have great instructors-lenders, REALTORS®, home inspectors, escrow officers, credit counselors, and insurance people."
More than 13,500 future Idaho home owners have graduated from the program since its 1999 inception.
