IHFA to Participate in Second Annual Blaine County Community Housing Week

(BOISE) Idaho Housing and Finance Association announced today that Gerald Hunter, President and Executive Director will be presenting at 12:00 noon on July 13 during the second annual Blaine County Community Housing Week, at the nexStage Theater located at 120 South Main in Ketchum.

Mr. Hunter's presentation entitled "Idaho Housing Programs and Resources" will focus on housing trends in the Wood River Valley and IHFA's community role, including providing mortgages for working families, offering financing and tax credits for developers of affordable housing, and working with communities to identify housing solutions.

"Make Blaine County Home Again" is the theme of this year's week-long event, brought to citizens by Advocates for Real Community Housing (ARCH) and the Blaine Ketchum Housing Authority (BKHA). Home buyers, employers, real estate professionals, developers, governmental officials, and concerned citizens are encouraged to attend some or all of the housing week events. The event will feature lectures, seminars, educational courses, documentary films, and housing information booths. All events during the Community Housing Week, July 12-14, are free to the public.

The shortage of affordable housing, possible solutions and the role of housing in the economic development of a community will be topics addressed by participants during the event.

"Last year's first-ever housing week was a huge success in informing and inspiring community support for critical housing issues, said Michael Carpenter of the ARCH Board of Directors. "This year we're turning our attention to the many tools available to solve our County's housing crisis. We need Community wide support to bring young people and vitality back to this valley."

All events and speakers are free of charge thanks to these event sponsors: The City of Sun Valley, Cove Springs Development, D.L. Evans Bank, Idaho Housing and Finance Association, National Association of Home Builders, Scott USA, Washington Mutual Bank, and Wells Fargo Bank.

For more information on Community Housing Week, visit ARCH's Web site at www.archbc.org, or contact ARCH President and Executive Director Rebekah Helzel at 208 726-4411 or arch4u@aol.com.
