Free lead-safe work practices training offered in Pocatello
Information useful to landlords, home inspectors, and maintenance workers to be discussed
The dust that can be created from lead-based paint during renovation, remodeling and repair can pose a serious health risk to children and families. But an upcoming course will teach techniques to minimize those risks.
Anyone who may come in contact with lead-based paint, which is found in homes built prior to 1978, can learn "Lead Safe Work Practices" during a course to be held from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Red Lion Hotel, 1555 Pocatello Creek Road in Pocatello. There is no cost to attendees for this training program, and course materials will be supplied.
Sponsored by the National Paint & Coatings Association and Atrium Environmental Health and Safety Services, LLC, this program is intended to teach landlords, home inspectors, renovation contractors and maintenance workers lead-safe work practices and the strategies for implementing them.
Attendees will be asked to complete a brief test at the end of the session. Participants who pass the test may receive a statement of completion.
Those interested in completing this course can register online at www.leadsafetraining.org or get more information by calling (866) 689-9484.
This course has been approved by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene for Certification for 1.0 Maintenance Points and is eligible for Board of Certified Safety Professionals Continuance of Certification points.
