IHFA creates free listing service for affordable rental housing
Property owners encouraged to list properties at HousingIdaho.com
Finding affordable rental housing in Idaho will soon be easier with HousingIdaho.com, a new statewide rental housing listing service sponsored by Idaho Housing and Finance Association. This free service allows property managers and owners, including providers of critically needed affordable and special-needs housing, a place to list properties, describe amenities, provide photos and list eligibility requirements, all at no charge.
“Housing, especially the ability to access affordable housing, plays an essential role in determining the economic health and growth prospects for communities,” said Gerald Hunter, IHFA president and executive director. “If you are a property owner who has available housing, I encourage you to list your property today.”
Property owners across Idaho can now list information about available housing on HousingIdaho.com. The Web site offers 24-hour access to managing, adding and updating property listings and company information. Landlords can also use the property search feature as a tool to manage their inventory of properties, as well as to conduct neighborhood and pricing comparisons. Once the site has been adequately populated with housing listings, the search will go active.
IHFA plans to launch HousingIdaho.com in early October. After this launch, renters will be able to search up-to-date, detailed listings to find a property that fits their needs at HousingIdaho.com. In addition to the Web site, a toll-free, bilingual call center is available each weekday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. MST to assist landlords and renters.
HousingIdaho.com is sponsored by Idaho Housing and Finance Association and was designed in conjunction with SocialServ.com, a not-for-profit organization that develops and maintains web applications to help agencies, property owners and the general public offer and find affordable housing in 20 states across the country.
The creation of the site was supported by a statewide advisory committee comprised of: Boise City/Ada County Housing Authority, Idaho Care Line/2-1-1/Health and Welfare, Idaho Department of Corrections, Northwest Real Estate Capital Corporation (NWRECC) – AHMA, Thomas Development, National Association of Rental Property Managers (NARPM), City of Boise, City of Nampa, Idaho Legal Aid Services, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), USDA Rural Development, Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS), Nampa Housing Authority, and Southwestern Idaho Cooperative Housing Authority (SICHA).
HousingIdaho.com was designed so that renters, property owners, housing professionals and social service providers can have access to real-time rental housing information. The Web site addresses the need to connect renters with available rental properties.
