In the effort to provide housing opportunities statewide, the Idaho Housing and Finance Association and its 130 employees is committed to serving Idaho, the state's citizens, and the communities we live and work in. Below are a few examples:
IHFA Participates in S.O.S. Week, AHMA Conference and Tools for Life Fair
IHFA employees donated eight women’s suits and nine separates during Send One Suit (S.O.S.) Week, March 19-26, 2006. The donation drive benefits the "Dress for Success" program, which helps low-income women enter the work force by providing them with a job-interview-appropriate outfit.
On March 9, 2006, IHFA’s Public Affairs Department staffed an informational booth at the Idaho Affordable Housing Management Association Conference, attended by approximately 230 people. Information about IHFA’s housing resources was provided to property managers from throughout Idaho.
Public Affairs also staffed an information booth at the Tools for Life Fair, Feb. 27-28, 2006. Approximately 550 high-school students with disabilities, parents, educators, and rehabilitation specialists from across the
IHFA Impacts Community Through Heart Walk, Nampa Chamber, Homebuyer and TVCRC Fair
A team of IHFA employees and their families participated in the Heart Walk on April 1, 2006, and raised $350 for the American Heart Association’s research and education efforts. IHFA walkers included Kate and Chad Brusse; Reed, Kandle, Madisen and Sam Hollinshead; Tom Newton and his grandaughter, Tanisha; and Katrina Thompson.
Potential home buyers met with mortgage consultants from Wells Fargo Home Mortgage as part of a workshop for first-time home buyers on April 8, 2006. Jim Lau, IHFA’s senior manager of Residential Lending, and Sue Pisani, homebuyer education administrator for Idaho Partners for Homebuyer Education, were presenters at the workshop. IHFA’s Public Affairs Department staffed an information booth at the workshop.
IHFA President and Executive Director Gerald Hunter spoke to about 65 businesspeople at the Nampa Chamber of Commerce Business & Breakfast Roundtable on April 13, 2006. Hunter discussed home sales price trends and predicted a slowdown in property appreciation. He also shared information about IHFA’s role in the community.
The Public Affairs Department staffed a booth at the Treasure Valley Community Resource Center’s annual Information Fair in Caldwell on April 19, 2006. Hundreds of people attended the event, which featured more than 100 human service organizations.
IHFA's Twin Falls Office Donates to Crisis Center
In November, IHFA’s Twin Falls office put together a raffle basket full of skin-care items for a fund-raiser for the Crisis Center of the Magic Valley, a facility that shelters victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The entire staff gathered and donated items to put together a basket, valued at over $200 in products. The Crisis Center is also a recipient of grant funds through IHFA’s Emergency Shelter Grant program.
IHFA Employees Participate in Rake Up Boise
On November 12, a team of 18 IHFA employees, family and friends raked up 45 bags of leaves at a senior citizen’s home in the Boise highlands.
